GUEST Post with Stampin' Up

Today is Guest Post day on the Blog with Mandi Perry-Zohner a Stampin' Up Card Consultant.

Hi! I am Taunia's cousin Mandi and I am excited that Taunia asked me to do a Guest Post on her blog. I have always wanted to do my own blog but being a wife and a mother to 3 busy boys (ages 19, 4, and 3) my time is very limited. That plus all of my hobbies!

Today I want to share with you one of my many hobbies....card making! About 9 years ago, I was invited to a Stampin' Up! event, where we made a few cards. It was my first time "stamping" and I was hooked. I bought my first stamp set and ink pad and started my journey. I even made my own wedding invitations and decorations with my Stampin' Up! supplies.

In the fall of 2007, my oldest son decided he didn't want to play hockey anymore. I was crushed...then thrilled! this freed up my entire winter. I signed up to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator the next day. 

Since then I have hosted a number of events and home parties. I try to hold a card workshop in the spring where we make a variety of cards. In the fall I host a Christmas card workshop. The last few years, I have also had a few card making events at the Family Center for younger children or as a parent/child event. I have had a few "crafting weekends'' where you are welcome to join a group of us to scrapbook, card make, quilt, (whatever your hobby is) without children- that is key for me to get anything done. 

Every year in January I take registration for my yearly card club. This is a group of 12 ladies of varying ages and every degree of craftiness. We gather once a month to make a few cards and learn some new techniques. I supply everything you need to make 2-3 cards or a card project.

As a club member you are obligated to spend $25.00 (minimum) each month on product from the Stampin' Up! catalogue. Each month has a different hostess who is responsible for bringing a small snack and refreshment for the group. For your host month, you then receive the hostess benefits which means FREE product. Who doesn't like getting free stuff? The catalogues are filled with lots of wonderful inspiration for card making and projects.

This year I am inviting all of you to come try cardmaking. For the January club you can join our group and make a couple cards. At the end of the night if you don't think card making is for you- no big deal. If you get hooked like I did great, and if turns out that more than 12 ladies are interested I will gladly make up a second group.

Closet Office Nook

I needed a space in the house that was central to take care of simple tasks and have my BINDER the binder that keeps me on track has calendars and calendars and keeps all important papers and mail before it is filed, its a big binder but it keeps me on track. 

For a long time I had it on the end of the countertop in our kitchen, it worked good because it was there for me to reference to throughout the day but it was on the counter and in the way. So just off our kitchen we have our laundry closet and across from that we have a tall two door linen closet. I thought one of these shelves would be perfect for my binder. So a couple months ago I  cleared everything and organized it all and left the writing height shelf open. 

It has worked great. I have books on one end. Important papers in files, and of course my binder in the middle. I prettied it up with pictures and jars with supplies. Excuse the mess it is a little cluttered right now.

It was a good chance to organize the whole closet. I got fabric bins from Walmart and put everything in its own place, I am a huge labeller and did just that for these.

Our Home Mini Book

Is it too obvious that I love Mini Books.

This one is all about our home. 

I went around our house taking pictures of our home some full room shots but mostly detail shots of our house. Inside the pantry in the drawers, things on our shelves, pillows. Little things that are neat to remember. 

I didn't journal much just let the pictures do the talking. I did however write in the inside cover about where and when we moved into the house. I also left it blank at the end of the book to write when we moved from this place. 

I made this book about 3 years ago so I am going to update it with new pictures from around the house since things change and we now have toys on or shelves and new furniture and completed renovations.

Yearly Calendar Journal

I started this little calendar last year wanting to record Eli's first full year. It is a daily calendar that is reused each year. Everyday you write the year and something that you did or happened that day. The fun of it is looking each day at what you were doing the year before and years later how things have changed. 

What you need for this project:

I used this old Roxy watch box for mine but you could use anything. Browse the shelves at Dollerama for a small little box. Your box is the first thing you want to find because you will need to determine the size you want your cards to be so they will fit in there.

If needed cut your cards down to fit in the box

I made Month Dividers a little taller than the index cards so they can divide the months. I printed the dividers on a thick cardstock and am thinking to even laminate them since they will need to hold up for 10 years.

The part that will take the longest is stamping the cards with the date. You can get a date stamp at any stationary store. Keep in mind you will just want to stamp the Month and Date not the Year. I placed a sheet of white paper on the table and when I stamped made sure the year went on the paper not the index card.

I made a cover for the calander as well with some paper and larger number stickers from the craft store. 

Now onto the second year of this it is fun to see what you wrote down last year. There is 10 lines on the index cards so this will hold 10 years of memories.

I keep the box in the kitchen so I remember to write in it everyday! 

Instagram Obsession

I like Instagram and probably post to much on there. Todays count 751. Follow me @tauniat
  I got thinking you know I have a lot of nice pictures on here it would be a shame if they all got deleted so I looked around for a way to print them and found a site called Prinstagram. You can print 2x2 or 4x4 photos as magnets, collages, stickers, or prints.

I went with a 4x4 print and then found 12x12 page protectors to fit the photos and now I have all my Instagram photos in an album. Another album to haul out of the house in a fire! Aaron is going to have his hands full! 

I print a batch of instagram prints about every couple months. Shipped right to my door within a week which I am still boggled by as the shipping address is Japan. I wait weeks for packages that come from Arizona but this one from Japan comes in a week? Not sure but anyway if your interested in printing your Instagram photos check out their site.
